SPECIAL EVENTS
MARCH EQUINOX - On the 21st of March, the sun raises exactly on the peak of the main Angkor Temple. This only happens twice a year, at the so called equinox – time of the year when the sun crosses the plane of the earth’s equator and day and night are of equal length. It is hard to believe how people were able to build up such amazing events already in ancient times. Don't miss the chance to assist to the next equinox, the 21st September 2018. It is only happening twice a year !
EASTER - All the team is wishing you a Happy Easter! One of the most important catholic event is near to approach, and we wanted to share it with you! Many hotels and NGO's are organizing events around this theme and kids will sure be able to catch some eggs quite everywhere in Cambodia!
KHMER NEW YEAR - We would like to give you notice about the Khmer New Year which, this year 2018, will be between the 14th and the 16th included... In Cambodia, we have 3 days celebrating the Khmer New Year, also known as Sankran. There will be, all over Cambodia, some festivities! However, Angkor Sankran, will take place directly inside the temple sites such as Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat. Enjoy with the locals this new year with games and fun right in the middle of the Ancient Angkor Empire temples.

THE FRENCH WEEK - From the 07th until the 10th of March 2018, there was the French Week Event patronized by the French Embassy in Cambodia and with a lot of French Expatriates companies supports, we have seen this event becoming a huge success. Many exhibitors took place on the garden of Raffles Grand Hotel of Angkor, and several events/shows were given such as a Circus show, an open air cinema movie shot, and for the last night, a wonderful fashion parade.
Here below are the words of Ms Éva Nguyen-Binh, said after the fashion parade on the 10th of March:
"Her Royal Highness Princess Sita Norodom, Mister President of EuroCham, Mister Vice-President of the French-Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ladies and gentlemen members of the French Week organizing committee in Siem Reap, Dear Consular advisor, Ladies and gentlemen, Dear friends,
I am very happy to be with you tonight to celebrate the end of the French First week in Siem Reap. This French Week in Siem Reap ends up tonight after 4 full days of intense encounters, exchanges and of the promotion of the French “savoir-faire” and of the partnerships between French and Cambodian people.
It is thanks to the mobilization and the enthusiasm of the French community in Siem Reap that this special event is possible. And it is also thanks to the support of the sponsors.
As Ambassador of France to Cambodia, I am so proud to represent this French community in this country who organized this event to show us what they can do, to show us the diversity of their talents and share them with our Cambodian and international friends.
I would like to thank the numerous visitors who have come to this week. I would like once again to thank the organizers of the French Week. Siem Reap is a unique city with extraordinary people.
